FUN FACTS
-
The Plymouth-Exchange neighborhood ebbs and flows alongside the Genesee River, providing a home for college students and growing families. Often known as PLEX, this robust urban area is conveniently located only minutes away from both the University of Rochester’s campus and the action of Center City.
-
The residents of the PLEX neighborhood take pride in the strong sense of activism in their community. At the Southwest Common Council, neighbors and community organizations work together on initiatives ranging from public art projects to urban agriculture. The Seedfolk City Farm rests on Plymouth Avenue, and has brought 20 raised beds, an active compost system and permaculture practices to the area. The non-profit, Sweet Beez Inc., works directly with Foodlink to carry out beekeeping in the neighborhood and promote sustainable sourcing practices.
-
Further along Plymouth Avenue sits the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Non-Violence, an educational space that aims to inspire and support efforts that promote harmony in our communities.
