The Lincoln Park neighborhood developed in the early 19th-century alongside the construction of the Erie Canal. As a historic hub for commerce and industry, the area is home to many working class residents of the Rochester area.
The United Neighbors Involved Together (U.N.I.T.) Neighborhood Association has worked hard to improve the neighborhood through beautification projects and volunteer efforts. Family businesses in the area receive frequent patronage, with some restaurants, such as Wilshire Restaurant and Catering, in operation for over fifty years.
The community is built up of winding alleys, sidestreets and hidden gardens waiting to be discovered by future homeowners and visitors.
